Acknowledgement

This project started following a conversation between Tom Hagen, VP of the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers (SARA) and Bogdan Vacaliuc at the 2016 SARA Western Conference in Prescott, AZ.

Tom wanted everyone to be able to run Marcus Leech's simple_ra program as described in his paper, "A 21cm Radio Telescope for the Cost-Conscious", but recognized that it was often very challenging to get everything installed and working given the fluid nature of Linux software and the many cascading dependencies between software versions.

Corgan Labs had contributed a GNURadio Live SDR Environment which eliminated these dependency issues and provided a stable set of programs pre-configured and working for many SDR receivers. What was needed was to make 'simple_ra' work with this environment.

The effort to do this has led to this project.
