Change PMID 37131718 (Preprint) to the published version with PMID 37721699

This curation https://bugsigdb.org/37131718 has a current PMID 37131718 which links to the preprint of the article titled “ Changes in the vaginal microbiome during pregnancy and the postpartum period in South African women: a longitudinal study”.

This issue is created to change the current PMID to the updated version 37721699, as the curation contains details from the published paper and not the preprint.

This is an interesting problem I hadn't thought of with using PMID as primary key: PubMed assigns PMID to preprints in bioRxiv an MedRxiv (in this case https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37131718/), then assigns a new PMID once the paper is published (in this case https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37721699/). It could create problems of dead links and reproducibility of downstream analysis to rename pages, so what I suggest is just editing the PMID at https://bugsigdb.org/37131718 without renaming the page. Do you agree @tosfos ?

Just a note that it IS possible that the preprint, upon which the curation depends in this case, could differ substantively from the published version. It seems unlikely, and simply editing the PMID makes sense to me. But since this is already an edge case, it is worth considering all the edges.... :)

Agreed - the PMID written in the PMID field should correspond to the PMID to which the curation corresponds, so the PMID should be updated to the published version only if the curation does correspond to the published version. In this case "the curation contains details from the published paper and not the preprint", so the PMID written in the study page should be that of the published paper and will not match the PMID in the URL. An example of the pitfalls of informative identifiers, I guess...

See #314, this can be done with the page "Move" feature in the "..." menu. To close this issue:

• check Change current PMID to updated PMID ( 41209719) #314 (or directly https://bugsigdb.org/41209719) to see that subpages have appeared
• check that experiments and signatures reflect the published version, or edit as needed to make them reflect the published version
• move the page to the updated PMID 37721699. Ensure that PMID and citation info in the Study reflect the published paper and its PMID.
