receives data only when releasing remote control key.

First my compliments, works simply and well, but....
I use piir module in combination with python.
Receives data only when releasing remote control key.
For example, I would like, if I hold KEY_VOLUMEUP, that I receive data at a certain speed all the time. for example, every half second. 

In short, I miss the repeat function. Can You help me to fix this problem?
