Domain was revoked by TLD registry

I just noticed that kutt.it is not resolving anymore, dig show empty DNS records and a whois query reveals that today at 11:25 CET the domain was updated and the new status is "revoked" meaning the TLD registry revoked it and it's not available to be assigned.

Yes I just noticed it. The TLD registry decided to revoke the domain because I didn't send identification documents (and I couldn't). There's no way for me to get it back now. That's very unfortunate and unbelievable for me. I've had this domain for more than 8 years. All that progress is lost.

I just bought kutt.to immediately, I'll configure and update the server soon and migrate everything over.

As far as I know being an Italian citizen is a requirement to register an .it domain name. As I happen to be Italian, do you think there's any chance we could recover the kutt.it domain?

It has to be the ID of the person who registered the domain and it can not change owners at the moment. I don't know yet for how long they'll freeze the domain but if you or some one else from Italy are willing to register the domain again it would be really helpful.

I volunteer for getting back the domain when/if it the registry decides to unlock it. Given that you know the reason for the registry actions I suppose you at least received some communications about this issue from them, so if you have means of contacting them and you want to, you could ask them if a domain transfer to an Italian citizen would be possible in the current situation.

I'm in contact with the domain registrar, it seems like I'll be able to claim the domain again. I don't know how long it takes, I'll keep everyone updated here. Meanwhile, I'm trying to make kutt.to work. Even if I get back kutt.it, I'll add kutt.to permanently as an option to chose when shortening links.

The registry said that the domain will be kept revoked for 30 days.
So please everyone use kutt.to until then at least.

@poeti8 Just to be sure we are all aligned here: kutt.to will become the main domain and will stay for long ?
What is the difference in .to domains ? can we be sure it won't be banned in a near future ? to is tonga and AFAIK it does not seems to have any exigence about domain registration but ...
