Selects with large amount of options is really slow

Hi,

I am using the select (with and without the search functionality) on 1000+ options. But it becomes unworkably slow at a certain point.

The page will load slow (so initial render takes long), then when i click it is showing the list pretty snappy. but then the hovering and selecting is really slow again.

I don't have the time at the moment, but I might look for a solution to this in the future if not picked up by the team.

Hi!

Custom select components can become slow with 1000+ options because all items are rendered as individual DOM nodes with their own events and listeners, unlike native <select> elements, which are browser-optimized.

I’ll be adding optimized variants for large datasets (not in the near future):

1. Search-first: Displays options only after typing.
2. Chunked loading: Loads options in batches while scrolling.
3. Virtual scrolling: Renders only visible items for maximum performance.

Yeah I saw that by inspecting the code already.

Did some experimenting with 2 and 3 which does speed it up a lot. But I don't really have the time a.t.m. to make a proper implementation and create a PR.

But I can at least confirm, that will definitely work.
