I have raised this problem before MANY times, on MANY platforms. Similarly to others. Yet it looks like our voices were just ignored.
The new redesigned menu shares the same CRITICAL flaw as the previous one - centering on the button, instead of the screen/panel.
What do I mean:
When you place your menu and pinned applications in the middle section of the panel (green zone, sort of Windows 11 style), the placement of the menu button changes, depending on how many applications you have pinned/opened. Again, like in Windows 11. However, in Windows 11 when you click the button, or (like most people do) strike the Super key, the menu opens CENTERED ON THE SCREEN. So no matter how many applications you have pinned/opened, the placement of the menu stays the same, and appears where you expect it to appear. You strike a key, that's always in the same position, and menu opens always in the same spot.
Instead in Cinnamon both the old and the new menu (and Plasma 6.0 for that matter, which is made funnier by the fact, that in 5.27 it worked properly like in Windows) the menu opens centered on the menu button. Which means, that depending on the number of opened/pinned applications, the position of the menu changes. So you strike the Super key, and now you have to hunt around your screen, looking for the menu, instead of just using your muscle memory to quickly access it. This is inconsistent, and should not work like that.
And I know this is possible. Cinnamenu, a 3rd party applet behaves as expected - when placed in the middle section the menu opens centered on the screen.
Is it possible for this blunder to be fixed? Add a toggle or something, for the menu to open centered on the screen? Or the work on the new menu is finished, and we who want actually usable menu are still forced to use 3rd party solutions?
