This is unrelated to us, and typically the server is the one advertising a capability. This is unrelated and not technically feasible as the server is the one responsible for sending notifications (not a mail client like Thunderbird). |

GitHub Discussion Follow-Up PostThis discussion was closed and locked because it is outside the scope of Forward Email. We are not in a position to influence Thunderbird Android's development roadmap, and requesting that we "nudge" them into creating a new IMAP push notification extension is not something actionable on our end. For context, I provided links to the relevant resources: Those are the appropriate places to advocate for this feature. We keep our Discussions focused on topics that are actionable for Forward Email. Additionally, we are working on our own native email apps — so reliance on third-party clients will not be necessary in the future. We appreciate your support as a customer and your interest in open protocols. |

See this idea submitted to Mozilla to preemptively implement the client-side portion of new mail push notification registration.
The iOS Mail app created demand for IMAP servers that support XAPPLEPUSHSERVICE, and I see no reason for Thunderbird Android not to do the same thing for an Android equivalent. Nudges from mail service providers standing at the ready to implement the server side ought to help make this happen.
