Custom Bluesky feed for Bookhive reviews

I follow a few Leaflet blogs and they have this very nifty Leaflet Reader custom feed. It's a Bluesky feed that tells me when any Leaflet blog I'm subscribed to gets a new post. It looks like this in my client:

I like reading Letterboxd reviews from my friends, and I figured I'd probably like the same from Bookhive. I think it would be neat if there was a bookhive custom feed that got posted to whenever someone I follow on bluesky writes a book review in Bookhive. Since there's character limits for Bluesky posts, the post could probably just be a link to review on the bookhive website, maybe with some emoji for the star rating. So I'm picturing a feed with posts like this:

Leaflet has a notion of "following on Leaflet" that's distinct from "following on Bluesky". BookHive could do the same thing, or it could just reuse bluesky follows. Both options make sense to me and the latter is certainly less work.

Oh I really like this idea! I guess step one would be to have an option to post your reviews to bsky when you write a review. So something like this:

1. add post to bsky option when rating/reviewing a book
2. which makes a bsky post including title, author, rating, review excerpt + url to review and optionally a hashtag
3. create a feed in something like https://graze.social collecting posts with these urls and/or hashtags into a feed
4. doing the same but for people you follow only; not sure if Graze can do that but could be a custom feed like For You but simpler.

The feed part is definitely ambitious, and would be very cool, let's first get bookhive reviews as bsky posts.

I've heard many people asking for this sort of feature.

I think it should be opt-in and it will either jump you to bsky where you can compose or just post the review directly with a link back to your review on bookhive. I don't want to write a composer just for this.

I think a common pattern for this is to simply offer a ‘share on Bluesky’ button (and perhaps a native share sheet next to that) once you save a review. Do reviews have canonical urls or I guess you would just share the book detail and then maybe an anchor to the specific review?

Reviews have their at-uri which is probably put in a query param to make sure it gets served by the server and anchored to in the frontend.

Yep, share sheet would be the way to go here. Just explicitly saying I won't make a composer haha
