Test steps

• Switch to Java perspective (default)
• Click File/New/Maven Project
• In New Maven Project wizard
  • Click Next
  • Enter Filter: org.apache.maven.archetypes
    
  • Select maven-archetype-simple
  • Proceed to create project by filling required fields
• Click File/New/Maven Project again
• In New Maven Project wizard
  • Click Next
  • Do not fill filter
  • Observe archetype options available

Expected result

Hundreds of archetypes to chose from, because no filter is entered.

Actual results

Only org.apache.maven.archetypes are shown. maven-archetype-simple is missing.

Workaround

Try waiting for 10 minutes, and attempt starting wizard anew. Sometimes the issue goes away.
