some odd bug that makes basic almost useless

I thought I was losing my mind, it works for other people
I have found a quite cumbersome work-around

LOAD /bbcbasic.bin
RUN . /some/path/to/some.bas
----- this will work, nothing else will
So you have to *bye and do this all over again for some other bas
ie (errors are)
LOAD some.bas
No such variable
LOAD . some.bas
Type mismatch
If I replace LOAD with RUN the errors are the same

mos 1.04rc1
I don't know how to get basic version

And I did a update to console8 current, still the same
(both mos and vdp)

LOAD "some.bas" ... this works OK
Maybe in the FAQ?
