When will a new version be available?

Maybe within the next few months, if everything goes well. But I can't promise anything.

The next version of VirtualBow will have a lot of internal changes, especially a new solver that makes the simulation faster and more accurate. This new solver took me longer than I had planned, but it's finished now. The remaining task is to integrate it into the main application, which will also take some time but isn't too difficult.

Before making the final release I will probably announce some "alpha" or development versions for testing.

Would be really interested in working at enabling simulations of asymmetrical bows (specifically Japanese yumi). Any estimates on the complexity of the task and what would need to be done? Haven't done yet a proper code walkthrough.

That's probably not going to be easy since the assumption of symmetry is deeply ingrained in VirtualBow. It allows for a more efficient simulation by only setting up and simulating half of a bow and scaling some of the results by *2 or /2. So basically the model would have to be changed to a "full" bow model where both limbs are simulated. Also the input and output data for the limbs would have to be duplicated into "upper" and "lower" limb.

The documentation isn't great yet, I hope to improve that once the new solver is finished.
