Hello I default to yay because I use yay, since the command are all changeable I don't think a switch is something useful. Also other people use nor yay or paru but other wrapper and I don't want to do that for every single one for these. The message for ignoring the package is related to #70. The idea was to count and list only not ignored package for paru. For now I didn't find a way of making a generic command for paru and yay for that specific problem. This is very difficult to make one piece of software that work with every one of each wrapper/cli ^^ mostly because their behave not the same way every time. And by essence this applet is not about making all wrapper working out of the box but more like "you can personalize like you want each command". For For the "arch-update lock file" maybe the updating icon is not changed because the command is hanged out because of an error or something because the file is locked. For the "0" overlay that could be an interesting option to add. For the "from [unknown]" problem:
For the "applet update" I dind't know how to do that. I'll take time to check how "apdatifier" does it. |

Thanks for the great update checker. I really appreciate how you have allowed the user to customize everything - unlike other similar widgets.
I am using CachyOS and wanted to ask a couple questions.
First, why do you default to yay? Since the paru syntax is the same for the commands in Command and Debug - maybe you could just allow the user to toggle between using paru or yay? A bullet control that switches between the two (but please do continue to allow the ability to use a "custom" command also)
Second, I'm not sure where to apply this advice? ignore excluded packages: "paru -Qua | grep -v ' [ignored]$' | wc -l for example"? In all fields?
Third, I like to use the included script "cachy-update" (it is a fork of "arch-update") for update all as it not only updates packages, it checks for orphan packages, unused flatpacks, old/uninstalled cached packages - advises if a reboot should be done and shows any "news" from the arch/cachy RSS feed. Is it sufficient to simply put 'cachy-update' in the Update all packages command?
I have had a arch-update lock file that something didn't remove and causes the command to fail. If it is launched from Arch Update Counter the "updating" icon appears and doesn't clear after you close the terminal window.

Also, I like having the update counter in the panel. But why does it show "0"? If there is nothing available, shouldn't it just show the icon with no overlay?
Finally, in the popup when an update is available - it always says "from [unknown]" I am using the checkupdates method (same one as arch is included with cachy). A similar app, Apdatifier shows this correctly.
One more feature that would be great: Also check for Plasma Widget updates? Apdatifier does this and it works great.
Again, thank you for your project.
