Exception on Input/Output select

Opening or Selecting an Input/Output device causes an exception every time on my system, even though other programs use them fine.

EDIT: I'm running Windows 7 64bit on all PCs so I can't tell if it's a problem with OS.

I don't currently have a way to debug the windows version-- will let you know if that changes.
