New: Database

Design and create an initial metadata database.

Considerations & Decisions to Make

• Metadata schema
  • We want to have this mostly worked out first
• What type of database?
  • MongoDB -- what we use for BossDB Metadata
  • Django -- what we use for BossDB.io and for DANDI
• Flexibility for change
  • in schema ?

Adding a note that we already have some information for this database stored in https://github.com/aplbrain/BBQS-EMBER-web/blob/main/frontend/src/constants/projects.ts

We will ideally want to get rid of this file entirely and replace it with

• data stored in a backend DB
• Backend API to access the data from the frontend

Also noting https://api.reporter.nih.gov/ as a resource for populating data from NIH Projects. Used in standalone script https://github.com/aplbrain/BBQS-EMBER-web/blob/main/frontend/scripts/fetchProjectMetadata.ts to populate most of the fields in the NIHProjectMetadata object in the projects.ts file mentioned above

• Embargo end date should not be a user populated field dandi/dandi-archive#2116
• Create a system for admins to review embargoed Dandisets dandi/dandi-archive#2001
