Tagify disappeared from Spotify

Hi Alex

After installing a Lenovo update and restarting my pc, Tagify was gone from my Spotify desktop app (together with the Spicetify marketplace). However, I don't think the Lenovo update caused the problem. It seems more likely that Spotify updated to a newer version which is not (yet) supported by Spicetify.

I ran Powershell and installed Tagify (2.1.2) again, restarted Spotify... still no Tagify (or marketplace). Powershell did mention that a Tagify version (must have also been 2.1.2) was found on my pc.

I ran Powershell again and reinstalled Spicetify... and got in Powershell an error message: "Spotify version mismatch with Spicetify" (screenshot attached)
The Spicetify advice in Powershell: "run Spicetify update"... which I did, but got the message: Spicetify is up to date.

Other possibility "downgrade Spotify to a supported version". However, I am afraid that I don't know how to do that (and am not sure if I want to).

Third possibility: wait for a Spicetify version that catches up with the latest Spotify version. I guess that will be what I have to do?

Any thoughts/advice? I have backups of my tags and smart playlists.

Hey SwA, unfortunately stuff like this happens with Spicetify.
I'm working on creating an installer that always keeps your Spotify/Spicetify/Tagify environment stable - so it'll detect what issues are present and take all the necessary actions automatically. Still a few weeks left before this is fully functional and released.

Until then, here's the problem with your setup:
Spicetify doesn't support Spotify's latest update yet (1.2.78), so you'll need to install an older version of Spotify. You're right that the problem was caused by Spotify updating to its latest version automatically.
So download a compatible version of Spotify here (1.2.77.358 should be good).
After this, you might have to go through the Spicetify/Tagify installation process (run the quick installation command):
iwr -useb "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/alexk218/tagify/main/install.ps1" | iex

Let me know if this solves it!

Thanks! Downgraded to Spotify 1.2.77.358 and reinstalled Spicetify. Back up and running now. That was not too difficult... once you know what to do. Will be even better of course once you make it automated/stable.
Now, back to happy tagging.

I'll be releasing this publicly soon. Still making some minor tweaks to it.
Next time Spotify updates and removes Tagify, use this to repair!

Hi there! Just used your installer (the 1.0.1 version) because Spotify launched a new version which was, again, incompatible with Spicetify. Works fine (just have to close your eyes and jump when you see the scary green warning). Thx!

Which scary green warning exactly? After downloading the installer itself? Or while it's running?

Before the installer starts running, warning me that the origin is not verified or safe... (don't remember the exact words). If you click on 'more details', you can choose to run the installer anyhow. Have a nice day! SwA.

Yup that's a real problem I have to solve.
I need to get my installer verified - Will cost a bit of $ but it's necessary, scary warnings aren't good.
