A few questions about Netsrv #1302

Hello Aldo, how are things going? 😃 I hope all is well! I think I have the optimal infrastructure for a netsrv setup, I have my PC, ps3 and TV close to eachother. Under my desk there are 2 RJ45 CAT 7 cables that we are yet to mount those ethernet sockets into. These cables run through the other side where the router is at so that's where itll be receiving its connection 😌 I just wanted to ask if when I use netsrv in my instance do I run a LAN cable from pc to ps3 or plug the ps3 in one socket and the PC in the other socket and have the router feed the 2 connections (like a simple ethernet connection) Im asking because I have seen that when you use pc to ps3 LAN cable the ps3 cant get a internet connection anymore and thats kinda uhh unfortunate as there are games that I would like to use online, also browsing the xmb and all of that What can I do in my instance? If there is a router in between the connection like I mentioned can the ps3 still have Internet connection? Thank you very much 🙏 |

Hello @Wailky2008 The direct PC connection to PS3 should provide a faster transmission of data packets. However the router gives you more flexibility for Internet access and in my case the difference in performance was unnoticed. Make sure that both devices are connected to the router using an Ethernet cable and the ports in the router can handle 1 gigabit. For help in how to configure the route you can ask AI or search PSX-PLACE forums. |

Yes. This diagram generated using AI should explain it better. Avoid using wireless connection in PS3, it uses the obsolete 802.11b/g standard, You should expect ~2-6 Mbps for 802.11b (11 Mbps theoretical) and ~10-29 Mbps for 802.11g compared with a 920-940 Mbps on a 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) connection.
