Unexpected caret position.

How can the issue be reproduced?

Type a 'm' in pattern editor.
Click left slot of the m.
Caret appears after m. Unexpected!
Click right slot of the m.
Caret appears after m. Expected.
Type a 'm' in Notepad/VS Code.
Click left slot of the m.
Caret appears before m. Expected.
Click right slot of the m.
Caret appears after m. Expected.

I just tried Jetbrain's mono size 14 in notepad and the right slot put the cursor to the left.

Other fonts and sizes will result in a different behavior The pattern editor follows very closely what other text editors do, specifically for editors like clion and notepad. When comparing, make sure you use the same font and the same size and you will notice very small difference if any at all. Font rendering is not an exact science and it does not allow to make statements like the one you are making.
