Hey, I'm going to try to fully translate finamp to Greek over the next few weeks using weblate, in fact I've already contributed like a quarter of the progress (around 25%) and re-worded some contributions from other fellow translators.

Do we have a timeline about when the languages will be updated ?

Also I'd like to ask what parts I should try to focus on so I can have them done earlier in case I don't have enough time to finish all of them.

So the translation updates are included with each new release, so every 1-3 months.

There's no particular things to focus on, although you could try handling those strings first that you can see/find throughout the app. If you're not seeing a string during regular usage, it's probably not that important :)

Yeah some strings are confusing, because there's no context and I kinda have to guess or attempt to find it in the app. I am leaving the ones I'm unsure with as "need to be edited".

Looking at the current UI on mobile, many translations are already shown weirdly (like if a word is too long it gets cut off and displayed under, which is fine but Greek has longer terminologies for things like "Transcoding" or "Playlist" and I'm sure other languages do too.)

Would be cool if we had some sort of marquee style thing for long sentences that don't fit in the screen for settings and for the player screen (Toggle-able of course).

@bladestech there already is a marquee setting (🔗"Auto-scroll Long Titles") that you can enable, but this is limited to strings from the actual media and not the UI. Adding scrolling text at tons of places in the UI would be super distracting and too busy, so that's not really an option.
Feel free to add screenshots of the problematic parts of the UI so that we can discuss how to solve them!

This is I believe one of the not many instances where text is cut out and shown under because it doesn't fit.

It will become a problem if the selection menu names are that condensed as translations roll out (and may also be a problem in other areas too, but we won't know until the update with the new translation rolls out.) This is really only a problem because words are too long to fit there (Which I could replace with shorter forms, like "Τραγούδ." Instead of "Τραγούδια". It's by no means a deal breaker, but it doesn't look very clean if you get what I mean. For menus like that marquee could work (only if the sentence/word is too long to fit there), or you could move the names above the dropdowns.

It all comes down to the GUI scale and might not be a problem at all on tablets/Linux. So it mostly concerns mobile devices (This test is done on 6.7inches for reference).

I don't like asking for much but some sort of GUI scale optimization could help with this a lot, especially with smaller devices.

Okay yes that UI isn't ideal anyway. At some point we'll have to simply redo these selectors. But at least the text is visible and not completely cut off :)
A temporary solution could be to limit the maximum width of the dropdowns and force the dropdown options to have a line break instead :)

Greek has reached 57% Translation, expecting to be able to push slightly over 65-70% by the end of the week.

(The translation bar is now blue, yay!)
