ubuntu server stuck after boot

The expected behaviour would be an interactive prompt asking you to set up user name and password. Can you please share the exact steps for how you installed it and which version of Ubuntu?

Forgive me I’m new to all of this, so I’ll try my best to explain clearly. I also appreciate all the work you’ve done.

There’s nothing special about my setup. I used the terminal and ran the command with no modifications. I split the disk 50/50.

I chose to install Ubuntu Server 24.04.1, and I’m considering trying Ubuntu 25.04 Desktop to see if I run into the same issues, although I prefer the server version. I’ve also previously run Asahi Remix 42 Server without any problems.

No worries, thx for the report!. I just like to make sure I have enough info to try and reproduce the issue. I don't know yet what might be causing this but I'll see if I hit the same issue on my machine.

No problem take your time. I tried to reinstall the software twice, but I always get same issue

I just installed Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS and been playing around with it for a while and everything works great I just really would like to be able to use the server version for my use case.

I did try it and it seems to work as intended on my m1 mini. I was on a relatively old macos so it might be something firmware related. I will need to update and try again I guess.

Another thing I can try next is build a new installer tarball with our latest kernel and boot chain and see if that works better.

I currently have a m1 that is on Sonoma that has the same problem. Gets stuck on boot with server but can boot up 25.04 with no problem.

@stikboy73-cmyk is that a new installation or did it stop after an upgrade?

I just uploaded a Ubuntu Server 25.10 installer image, it would be interesting to see if that works better for you.

This was a clean install of server. The desktop version worked as expected.

I apologize. I did not realize there was a new version. I will try that version tonight when I get home and report back.
