Im trying to set up repentogon launcher while on linux mint but I keep running into this problem.

The launcher is failing to connect to github altogether, there are a quintillion reasons as to why that is the case, but its for sure a problem on your side's configuration. Make sure you are launching it as provided by the guide, from steam, make sure github is accesible by it by enabling/disabling vpns or packed manipulation software, and so on.

Fixed it by installing a SSL certificate for windows because I was using proton when launching the game
