I would like to optionally link to my scs community member profile or another url specific by myself).

I'm not really sure I agree. This is not supposed to be a (self)-marketing page.
Really interested as to what others say in this regard.

Just another thought, is the scs community blog a (self-)marketing page or a contribution to "knowledge" sharing? How would we handle blog posts in the open operations community?

For the direct manifesto page (eg. the site that holds the manifest), I think, it makes sense to have the focus on

• the contents of the manifest
• the orgs / individuals that support the manifest

and not derail into it being a place where we link left and right.
Imho that does not speak against for using the SCS community profiles within the Open Operations scope (or similar).

okay, so my initial idea was to only link to the scs community member profile, maybe we should limit it to that.

Orgs are able to refer to their homepage as well...

Thank you @frosty-geek for your input and thank you @fkr for sharing your very good thoughts on this issue.

• Personally, I do believe that allowing to share one's personal track record is a very good incentive for gathering urgently needed contributions.
• Furthermore it allows to validate the signees' professional background, thus adding to the overall credibility of our important mission.
• In the end, we're creating a community of people and organizations that believe in our joint statement. Allowing to link a biography/profile allows members to meet like-minded professionals and get to know them better.

However, we should be very careful about organizations (and people) signing the manifesto without really contributing to the vision of Open Operations, but this is a different issue. If entities should sign the manifesto just for the sake of referral links, we should start to evaluate how to clean the manifesto in the future.

For now I would agree on allowing to link against every kind of professional summary/social account (e.g. SCS Community Profile, OpenInfra Community Profile, LinkedIn, etc.).

so there is a bunch of fellows, like @quaid @schwesig @durandom @goern , who have been working on very similar goals in the context of https://operate-first.cloud/

a. how can we, individuals, sing (that's why I asked to reopen this issue)?
b. a broader discussion: how can we cross pollinate our communities?

and maybe it's worth thinking about changing the wording from 'organizations' and individuals' to 'entities' ?
