Spout auto-starts intermittently after OBS reinstall if not uninstalled first #92

Describe the bug
I am an Aitum Community Helper reporting this issue. If Spout is not uninstalled and reinstalled after an OBS installation (or even a reinstall of OBS where Spout isn’t removed at the same time), it will often—but not always—automatically start under Tools - Spout Output Settings. This causes unexpected behavior until the user figures out the cause.

This has been a recurring problem inside the Aitum Support Server, and I have also seen it reported in the official OBS Support Server. Users frequently need to uninstall and reinstall OBS and Spout in the correct order to stop Spout from auto-starting. While it does not occur every time, it happens in most cases.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior (intermittent):

  • Install or reinstall OBS.
  • Do not uninstall Spout before the OBS reinstall.
  • Open OBS.
  • Go to Tools - Spout Output Settings.
  • Observe that Spout may automatically start and cause issues.

Expected behavior
Spout should not automatically start or activate after an OBS installation or reinstall unless explicitly started by the user. Users should be able to reinstall OBS without needing to uninstall/reinstall Spout in a specific order.

Additional context
This issue has been reported multiple times in the Aitum Support Server and also observed in the OBS Support Server. The only reliable workaround currently is to uninstall Spout before reinstalling OBS, then reinstall Spout after OBS is fully installed. While intermittent, it occurs in most cases and can be confusing for users, so documenting or fixing this behavior would prevent repeated support tickets.
