Issue in generating SMOIS in HRLDAS_setup file

I used the GLDAS data and followed the steps detailed in the tutorial. After extracting individual forcing (extract_gldas.py) and initial conditions (extract_gldas_init.py), I ran the create_forcing.exe to generate LDASIN files and HRLDAS_setup file.

Based on those files, I ran the hrldas.exe, but the model run was stopped due to a water balance error saying water gaining.

I checked the parameters in the HRLDAS_setup file. The SMOIS, CANWAT parameters didn't have any value. I checked the create_forcing.f90 for any error in the script and I couldn't find any error in that as well.

Here I attached the HRLDAS_setup file and create_forcing.F file, if you guys could help me on this that would be great.

CANWAT does not need any value. This is OK. SMOIS should have reasonable value. Please double check if your downloaded original GLDAS data file is correct and there is no error message in your process of running create_forcing.exe
Also, did this error occur at the first model timestep or after the model ran for a while? What model timestep did you use?

Thanks for the instructions.
I was able to create HRLDAS_setup with SMOIS data.
I ran NoahMP for 5 days period with hourly timestep.
When I checked the ETRAN and LH in outputs, there were no values for any time step.
Can you suggest any modification to the model setup

This is weird. Did the model crash at some point? Could you please try using model time step of 30min (i.e., 1800s)?

Model was run perfectly. I forgot to say that I used MERRA2 data as forcing. I'll try 30min time step

I ran the model in 30min time step as well, but I got same issue in ET and LH results

Did you find any reasonable value for other output variables like soil moisture, SH, ground heat, etc.? Is it just the ET and LH showing no values? Could you please provide your hrldas namelist?
