Unable to start motion

Intro

Although rpicam-still -o test.jpeg works, motion fails.

Hardware:

• Raspberry PI Zero 2
• Raspberry PI Camera Module 3 NOIR (IMX708)

OS:

• Debian bookworm

Observation: I browse to the http://REDACTED:8080 and see a grey live capture. Fail.

Test 4

libcamera-vid -t 10000 -o test.h264

Observation: I open test.h264 in vlc and it works! Now how I do I tell motion above to work as well?

This is a problem with the upstream libcamerify application. The bug reports below provide a status and it looks like a fix has been pushed but I'm not sure when it will roll out to your apt repo.

I'd suggest doing frequent apt update / apt dist-upgrade until the new libcamerify installs.

If/once it does update and resolve the issue, please report back here.

This issue has been resolved upstream. I have confirmed that updating to latest version resolves the issue.
