Should I retrain the model if I want to have different attribute controls?

If I want to switch to different attribute controls, such as replacing angle and quality with lighting and expression, do I need to retrain the generative model? Or can I simply replace pose_model and quality_model with models corresponding to the desired attributes?

Hi! The answer is You don't need to retrain the model. You can use any attribute estimator to control the generated face attribute. The given pose and quality estimators are just used in the paper. There are different ways to achieve face attribute editing by using Vec2Face (e.g. this paper uses batch patches to add sunglasses). A better attribute estimator will result in better generated-images.
