Ingest 2 collections into the Disasters STAC

Summary

After we have the directory/bucket structure, we will need to ingest collections into the STAC in staging, provide a mock up visualization to show that it works, and review metadata along the way.

Pre-task

• all files have been moved into the proper directory in AWS with the correct initial metadata (only the EVENT name).

Acceptance Criteria

• SIT testing environment deployed
• all required data has been moved to nasa-disasters-staging
• Ingestion of Sentinel 2 BurnRatio and Sentinel 2 ColorIR into STAC
• Validation with Garrett that metadata is correct
• Validation with Data Services that metadata is correct
• Visualization within veda-ui of the STAC catalog for final verification
• Update the json config (if necessary) and re-ingest

Dependency

• Garrett needs to complete the Hazard and Location event json in veda-tf-state-shared-disasters before pushing to production.

Updates.

There will be about 4 collections created initially due to how things are being split (e.g., sentinel2-nbr and sentinel2-dnbr, having daily time density vs. hourly time density, etc).

So we get a new ENV created for ingestion and then begin on Wednesday April 8, 2026 for ingestion of the following collections:

• sentinel2-nbr
• sentinel2-dnbr
• sentinel2-colorir-subdaily
• sentinel2-colorir-daily
