Some new ores are "unrealistic"Β #55

Hi, I love the idea of mods that make an effort to improve and diversify the geology of Minecraft, especially being a bit of a geology nerd myself. But because I am a bit of a geology nerd I feel some of the ore blocks added by this mod don't make a lot of geological sense. For example, in real life coal is a sedimentary deposit, and it can only form within sedimentary rocks like shale and sandstone. It wouldn't be possible to find coal deposits in igneous rocks like granite, diorite, or andesite (or tuff, though theoretically it is possible they could be found close to each other, but unlikely).

Similarly, irl diamonds form very deep under high pressure in igneous rocks with very low silica content like kimberlite, whereas granite, diorite and andesite have high-intermediate silica content and would never contain diamonds. The other minerals/metals in Minecraft (iron, copper, gold, lapis, emerald, and of course redstone) can feasibly form in a variety of rocks and conditions, so I wouldn't worry about them.

I know Minecraft is far from a realistic game, and there aren't really enough rock types to make the ore formation actually realistic, but I think at minimum coal deposits should be limited to stone, sandstone, and deepslate, and diamonds limited to stone, deepslate, and maybe basalt (even though deepslate would be a metamorphic rock, I think the deep, high pressure nature fits well with diamond formation).

Of course this is just a suggestion from a pedantic rock nerd that would love to see more realistic geology in a very unrealistic game, so feel free to completely ignore it if you aren't aiming for realism with this mod. But making these changes would make it a little less jarring to other rock nerds who might enjoy a mod like this.
