An option to reset the trader pins so people would have to discover them again would be an awesome option to have

What do you mean exactly? Do you want just the map pin to disappear, so new players must discover them themselves or do you want to reset the traders and make them spawn in a new location?

just for the trader map pins to reset for everyone globally so they would have to go and find them again if that's possible

When a new player joins a server where the trader has been already found, it receives those traders' locations. As I understand the idea here is to require each individual player to find them to see the icons.

Maybe it is possible to;

• Not send that data to the client once it joins.
• Not send this data to everyone when a player finds it for the first time.
• Track player's position so that it receives this data only when at discovery range of an already existing trader.

Without knowing how this actually works, it might be a problem? Does the client keeps this data after reconnecting to the server, or does it needs to keep getting it again every time it connects?

thats spot on mate! thats the problem im having on my server currently. everyone can see all traders without having to find them

That would probably work, but as you speculated, this data is sent every time a player connects, so I would have to track which players already discovered the traders in previous sessions. This could be tricky to implement reliably.

if there was a way to wipe the discovery information that would be great, it would also be very interesting to be able to randomly relocate the traders to keep the challenge of finding them fresh, but i understand that both these concepts are not easily done, if it were possible to do id greatly appreciate it

Technically it should be possible, but it's unlikely I'll implement this feature soon (if at all, haven't decided yet)
