Gives bestmove when using go infinite command

As far as I know, the go infinite command should not give a bestmove until the stop command is given, but when I give a position fen, it automatically gives a bestmove because when there are very few pieces left, it is easy to increase the depth and it gives a bestmove at 127 depth. Why do you limit this? The fen I use is: position fen 8/5kR1/8/3K4/8/8/8/8 b - - 0 143

As you can see here, that's why it doesn't show the analysis arrows. But if I switch to stockfish, this problem doesn't happen.

It stops because not limiting the depth overflows history and killer tables and I don't want to increase their size to greater than what is reasonable.
Do you think the search should just stall instead when it hits max depth on an infinite search?

No, in fact, when the depth limit is reached, the depth must be clearly set to maxdepth. Otherwise, it will stop showing arrows in programs that require analysis.
